On June 14th, some of the Jr. STF met for the first time during Youth Group at the Karnowski’s. Jr. STF started with an orientation, “Discovering Who I am”. They also participated in Core Value activities and other lectures: “My Identity As A Child of God”, “My Identity As A Blessed Child”, and “My Identity As a Extended True Family Member”. In the afternoon they enjoyed some four-square and soccer at the local school park.

On Saturday September 6th, 8 members attended the Kansas City Metro Jr. STF workshop. The agenda for the workshop was Welcome and Opening, and then turned into two simultaneous sessions. One, “An Introduction to Jr. STF”, presented by Rebecca Karnowski, which introduced our Jr. STF candidates (first-timers) to the program, and the other, and in-depth study of the “Principle of Creation”, first chapter of the “Divine Principle”, overseen by Christelle Karnowski for returning Jr. STF members. The day’s activities followed, including music, both contemporary and “Praise and Worship”, soccer, and a game of Cranium. This was followed by a time of reflection, suggestions, and thoughts of the workshop in retrospect.
To finish out the Workshop, the younger members participated in a few rounds of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) and woke the next morning (Sunday) for Hoon Dok Kae and assisted in the preparations for “First Sunday”. I believe that, as always, our Second Generation learned a lot, had a great experience, and brought something of unique value for each person back home with them at the end of the weekend.

"Well, for my reflection fo the Kansas Camp."
"It was pretty awesomest! We had three brothers that came from Nebraska. So, we had some new faces. I loved the lectures because it wasn't the same old stuff but in new way. Rebecca Karnowski talked about BC's identity, Sebastian O'Connor, the history of the church, my dad talked about relationships, the moment, and church, Uncle Peeter Saarna talked about True love, Aunt Meiko Saarna talked about Mind and Body Unity, and Uncle John O'Connor talked about TPs. We got to have Arts and Crafts, FISHING!!!, and BOATING!!!!! That's was awesome. My favorite part was the Family olympics because that was the focus of the camp to be a family and experience how our families are suppose to be under God."

Kansas Camp Report
"The 2008 Kansas Camp began on a sunny 27th of September. The camp took place just outside Council Grove, Kansas, at the White Memorial Camp. We have used this camp before and enjoy it because of its beautiful location and good facilities. As camp participants were arriving, sports and games were played outside, but after lunch things got started with a lecture given by Rebecca Karnowski about The Life of Blessed Children. There was a helpful discussion afterwards where the second generation could share questions and concerns about their own lives. Afterwards we had the Family Olympics! This is the second time we've held this event, and it consists of families working together to complete different games and earning points. The family with the most points at the end wins. After the Family Olympics came a lecture by Mieko Saarna about How to Unite Mind and Body, and, because dinner was running a little late we went straight into the last lecture of the day, Heavenly love and Faith, given by Rev. Peeter Saarna. After dinner we had a talent show, showcasing many individual and group talents, and then we came around a blazing campfire to have some s’mores and sing songs. Testimonies about a life of prayer were given to prepare ourselves for our own prayer after the campfire, and the singing and heartfelt stories helped to prepare the atmosphere. Near the end of the campfire, we lit candles and had our own individual prayers, before coming back together to close. The next day began early with Hoon Dok Hae and a big breakfast, before launching into our first lecture, Relationships with Richard Karnowski. After a little break we also listened to History of the Unification Church, given by Sebastian O’Connor. By then it was time for lunch and our last lecture for the camp, Who are True Parents given by John O’Connor. With that finished, we said goodbye to our friends from Nebraska; who trekked a long way to come and join us, and then we broke into various afternoon activities such as boating, fishing, arts and crafts, and sports. The camp came to a close with delightful skit performances by each team, and then dinner. Overall the camp was smaller than previous ones, and there were a few lecture cancellations and changes that had to be made before the camp began; but we hope it was a great way for Blessed Families to relax and share in God’s Love."

On October 5th, 2008 our Jr. STF members met at the Unification Family Life Center in Kansas City, KS. The event started with community service at the St. Paul Neighborhood Pantry, just a few blocks from the church center. After lunch, we were treated with some inspiring words given by Rebecca Karnowski, “How to Spiritually Mature”. The members showed their sports talent by playing soccer and we had an exciting and educational time of jeopardy with categories of True Parent’s Life, Unification Life, Human Fall, Purpose of Creation, and Biblical Figures. This ended with some delicious treats. In the evening we got together and watched “My Brother” on the "Big Screen". It was a wonderful movie about brotherly love.

On Nov. 1st, the members gathered for their monthly meeting. One again we started out by helping out at the St. Paul Pantry. The staff was truly grateful for all the hard workers. In the afternoon, Rebecca Karnowski gave a presentation on Core Values for all the members that had not previously attended; and Christelle Karnowski, Mikito Saarna, Danny Acosta, and Gabriel O'Connor studied the first chapter of the Divine Principle. We continued the program with Core Value activities about teamwork and ownership in "Pulse", a game of unique character, followed by Telephone Charades. We finished the day with a meeting time of tasks reporting and progress. Everyone is on their way to successfully completing their tasks. James shared that he has been working on a Kansas Youth website to help communicate with each other about events. Major features of the site are a picture gallery, reflections, and other exciting things. Free time included playing soccer, doing homework. or working on the October newsletter. In the evening, we watched the movie, "For One More Day".

Welp, Brothers and Sisters, looks like it's me giving the report this time. 8-P This Youth Group was a BLAST! I had a lot of fun as a whole, but also spending some good quality time with my younger brothers. This time around, we started off with a quick opening that transitioned into free time before lunch. We then proceeded to the Morimoto's for our "Service Project" which included trimming branches, clearing brush, and raking lots and lots of leaves!! Our Youth worked very hard and we accomplished a lot in the amount of time we were there. We had dinner at the Morimoto's and then returned to the church center for a movie. The sisters watched Expelled while Sebastian did homework, and Mikito, Gabriel, and I watched Lean on Me. We closed out the night afterwards and continued the next morning with Hoon Dok Kae. Our activities for Sunday included a small WAIT practice for something new Sarah has been working on; and then finished out with our Lecture Practices for Sunday School on First Sunday. Mikito, unfortunately, was not able to join us Sunday morning, as he had a soccer game - but, despite a small loss, he stated that it was a "good game" and joined us for our closing. After Youth Group and the departure of our more distant youth, Gabriel, Mikito, and I spent the evening hanging out and had a really good time playing soccer and video games. This weekend, for me, was a refresher of sorts, and was more evidence of how God works, no matter how small or insignificant it may be, and how much it means to our Youth, and especially to my younger brothers. I believe that all our Youth continue to receive something of great meaning to them at our events; however, there is still much room for improvement, so get inspired!!
We were blessed with the presence of the following people and only hope that this list will grow in the future:
Gabriel Melgarejo
Mikito Saarna
James Thompson

We had our first performance for Rev. Standley's church!!! It was a great success with audience response being very supportive. All the members did very well with their acting and getting the message out.
The performance for God's Day was great! Being the finale for the entertainment gave us all pride and enjoying using our talents. For all the parents that weren't there for the first performance could see all the hard work at practices paid off.

On Jan. 2-4 the members had a "Raise the Bar" Kick-Off workshop.
On Jan. 2 , we started the workshop with a lecture about "My Identity" and "Jr. STF intro." There were core activities Pre, Silent Opera and Trust. Kensei and Sarah shared and giving advice their preparations of the Matching/Blessing, mostly focusing on praying.
On Jan. 3rd, we had a lecture on "Being members of the Extended family. Next, there was the video of "Lifehouse Everything skit" expressed how God works in your life. There was a WAIT training of breakdancing with Kensei and learning the song "Hero" with Sarah. Next, they put their learning skills to the test with the DP Test. Finishing, with answering essay questions and having an interview. For all that hard work, there was laser tag!
On Jan. 4 we had the results of the tests. Mivi and Mikito Saarna are going on to the Green level. Christelle gave a talk about her experience of being a green level. There was reflection of '08 and making goal for '09. We have a wonderful design now for our Jr. STF shirt with all the planning.
Our participants were Elke Thompson, Mikito and Milvi Saarna, Gabriel and Sung Won Melgarejo, Gabriel O'Connor, Christelle and Rebecca Karnowski, Molly Dillinger, Danny Acosta. Our helpers were Sebastian and Clareen O'Connor, Kensei Tsubata, Sarah Karnowski. Parent help were Peeter and Mieko Saarna.
